Ingredients

1 package Krusteaz Apple Crisp Mix (1 pouch each crisp topping mix and apple filling)

12 oz (8 cups) stale bread, cut into 1/2-inch cubes

1/2 cup raisins, soaked in hot water and drained

3 cups milk or cream

1/3 cup packed brown sugar

4 eggs

2 teaspoons pumpkin pie spice

5 tablespoons butter or margarine, softened

whipped cream or ice cream (optional)

Instructions

  • Preheat oven to 350°F.
  • Place bread cubes in lightly greased 13x9x2-inch pan.
  • Sprinkle raisins over bread cubes.
  • Spoon apple filling over raisin layer.
  • In separate bowl, whisk together milk or cream, brown sugar, eggs and pumpkin pie spice until blended.
  • Pour milk mixture over bread and apples.
  • Let stand 30 minutes to allow time for liquid to be absorbed.
  • Place crisp topping mix in medium bowl.
  • Cut in butter or margarine using a fork or pastry blender until crumbly.
  • Sprinkle topping mixture over bread and apples.
  • Bake 50-55 minutes or until topping is golden brown.
  • Serve with whipped cream or ice cream, if desired.
