Southern Cornbread & Muffin

Southern cornbread is denser and more savory than traditional cornbread. To keep it real Southern style, whip it up in your favorite skillet while listening to bluegrass.

Southern Cornbread & Muffin : 1 Reviews

I am the daughter of a southern farmer, and he was an amazing cornbread baker!!! I really miss that about him. I have been looking for a quick way to whip up a batch of authentic southern cornbread that does not have a sweet taste to it for many years. I love the Krusteaz pancake mixes, so when I saw this on the grocery shelf I grabbed it and rushed home to try it! Guess what?! IT IS AMAZING!!! I use my cast iron skillet preheated in the oven, and it is perfect. It is tender and moist, but has a crunchiness to the edges, and it is great with butter on it with soups, stews or with regular meals. My whole family loves it. I have to stop them from fighting over the last piece, so if you are health-conscience it might not be a good idea to bake two pans - haha. Try it, and I bet you will buy it again!!!
