4 tablespoons (½ stick) butter, melted (FOR CRUST)
2 cups milk*
1 tablespoon butter (FOR FILLING)
HEAT oven to 325°F. Lightly grease 8x8-inch pan.
STIR crust mix and melted butter until crumbly dough forms. Press dough firmly and evenly into bottom of prepared pan. BAKE 11-13 minutes. Set aside to cool.
WHISK filling mix into milk in medium saucepan. Bring to boil over medium heat, stirring constantly (about 15 minutes). When mixture comes to a boil, remove from heat. STIR in 1 Tbsp butter until melted.
*Substitute half & half or cream for firmer filling. Skim milk is not recommended.
POUR hot filling over prepared crust. CHILL in refrigerator at least 1 hour. Garnish as desired and serve. Store in refrigerator.
