Old Fashion Onion Rings
Take a nostalgic trip down memory lane with our Old Fashioned Onion Rings recipe. Thick slices of yellow onions are coated in a crispy golden batter made from Krusteaz Southern Cornbread and a touch of buttermilk delivering a satisfying crunch with every bite. Serve these timeless classics as a mouthwatering appetizer or as a scrumptious side dish that will transport you back to the good old days.

STEP 1
Cut onions into 1/2 inch thick rings. Soak onions in cold water for 15 minutes.
STEP 2
While onions soak, mix together cornbread mix according to directions on the back of box.
STEP 3
Place 1 cup of flour in separate bowl. In a deep fryer or a large skillet pour in 2 inches of peanut oil. Bring oil up to 350° F.
STEP 4
Dip onion rings in flour and then into cornbread mixture. Drop several onion rings in at a time but make sure they are not touching.
STEP 5
Fry on both sides until golden brown.
