Classic Cuban Focaccia Sandwich

Focaccia Bread:

1 package Krusteaz Italian Herb Flatbread Mix

1 cup very warm water (115°-125°F)

1/4 cup vegetable oil


Cuban Sandwich Filling:

4 tablespoons mustard

8 slices dill pickles

8 slices deli ham

8 slices deli roasted pork

8 slices Swiss cheese

  1. // Focaccia Bread: Heat oven to 375°F. Lightly grease baking sheet.
  2. // Stir together Krusteaz Garlic and Onion Flatbread Mix and yeast (enclosed). Add warm water and oil, stirring until dough forms a ball. With floured hands, pat out full dough ball onto prepared baking sheet to approximately 9x10-inches. Using handle of wooden spoon dipped in flour, make 12 indentations on the top of dough. Brush with olive oil. Cover dough and let dough rest 60 minutes.
  3. // Bake 24-26 minutes or until golden brown.
  4. // Sandwich assembly: Preheat broiler. Cut focaccia bread horizontally in half and spread mustard over cut sides. Place bread on a baking sheet. On bread bottom, layer pickles, deli meats and cheese. Place under broiler until cheese melts. Place bread top over filling; cut into 8 servings.
