How to Make Waffles Using Pancake Mix
We’ve all been faced with an all too familiar breakfast dilemma – pancakes or waffles? Luckily, with Krusteaz® pancake mix, you can have the best of both worlds. That’s right, you can achieve perfect waffles using our pancake mix and your family will be none the wiser.
So, how do we pull this off? Easy. Throw on your favorite apron, turn up those tunes and prepare to have your mind (and your taste buds) blown.
Step 1: Grab the goods.
In order to pull off this breakfast switcheroo, you’ll need these kitchen staples:
- The equipment:
- A mixing bowl
- A whisk
- Measuring cups and spoons
- A waffle iron
- The ingredients:
- 2 cups of your favorite pancake mix (we used our Buttermilk Pancake Mix*)
- 1 ½ cups of water – cold, please!
- 1 egg
- 2 tbsp of vegetable oil
*If using another Krusteaz® pancake mix, please refer to the back of the box for proper waffle-making ingredients.
You can totally dance and sing while you’re gathering these items, we promise not to judge. We also can’t see you right now, so that wouldn’t even be possible.
Step 2: Prep that pan.
Or in this case, a waffle iron. Lightly grease and preheat your iron to the desired temperature. If you don’t have an iron – well, come back and finish reading this after you’ve acquired one.
Step 3: Blend the batter.
While that iron gets nice and toasty, throw all of your ingredients into your mixing bowl and get to whiskin’. Note: Please do not actually throw the ingredients.
Step 4: Pour your panca- er, waffles.
As a disclaimer, your batter will look a bit on the lumpy side. Don’t fret – that’s how it’s supposed to be! Generously pour your concoction into your waffle iron to hear that beautiful sizzle.
Step 5: Watch those waffles.
Peek in every so often to check how your waffles are looking. Typically, once the steaming stops, you should be set! If you want them a little more well-done, let the iron and the batter bond just a bit longer. Look at that, you’ve created a real friendship here.
Step 6: Serve up a stack.
Congratulations! You have successfully mastered the ultimate breakfast con artistry. You’ve reached the (most) fun part. It’s time for the final taste test. Before digging in, we suggest adding some finishing touches with a generous syrup pour, a dollop of whipped cream, or a scoop of your favorite fruit.
